Wynnstay adds 43rd store

The Wynnstay Group has acquired a rural retail business in Cardiganshire, which becomes the 43rd store in the company’s farm and country store chain. The Wynnstay Stores network covers an area across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Lancashire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire, as well as throughout Wales.

Wynnstay has bought the merchanting operations of the S Jones & Sons business in Bethania, which was first established more than a century ago. It says the move will allow the outlet to expand its range of products across animal feeds and supplements, clothing, footwear and pet products.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to develop the range of products and services available from Bethania to our loyal customers in the region,” comments Evan Jones, owner of S Jones & Sons. “We plan to continue with the haulage side of S Jones & Sons and will be on hand to support the transition of the merchant business over to Wynnstay, ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible for our customers.”

For Wynnstay, retail director Andrew Evans adds: “S Jones & Sons has a very loyal customer base and we look forward to working with Evan, Valmai and the team to develop the product offering for customers in the region, ensuring they continue to receive high quality products with the provision of advice and excellent service they have been accustomed to.”
