Zantra expands into Midlands

Crop protection specialist Zantra has appointed Charles Starkings, formerly of Frontier’s Boothmans Agriculture division, as an agronomist covering the East Midlands. Mr Starkings has the BASIS Diploma in Agronomy and is FACTS qualified. In his new role, he will be supported by Zantra’s headquarters staff and supply service at Great Staughton, in Cambridgeshire.

Zantra, with depots in Kent, Yorkshire, Shropshire and Wiltshire, claims that its agrochemical sales have doubled in the last two years, making it the sixth-largest agrochemical distributor in the UK. Murray Mackay, managing director at Zantra, said the company was keen to develop more business. He went on: “The appointment of an agronomist of Charles’ calibre, in a key arable area, will help us to offer the company’s agchem and supply service to a wider range of farmers.

“Coming hard on the heels of a number of other appointments, it enables us to offer a more comprehensive advice-based agronomy service to customers who have been asking for it.”
