Staphyt adds to UK team

Staphyt, the European contract research organisation (CRO) specialising in agronomy services, has recruited Jeff Old to its UK operation as technical manager.

The French-owned business arrived in the UK through the 2010 acquisition of Oxford Plant Sciences. Staphyt UK is still headquartered in Bicester, with satellite stations at Doncaster and Nottingham. It has a team of 17 performing GEP and GLP trials, seed studies and project management.

Mr Old is experienced in crop protection with a long career in CRO field trial services and consultancies. It includes GEP and GLP trials development, quality management and business development at Agrisearch UK, Charles River and APC, with his previous post as managing director of Biotek UK.  His particular expertise covers operator exposure, soil dissipation/accumulation and multi-site residue studies.

He will be based at the Bicester centre, where his mission will be to focus on the development of the company’s field capabilities and GEP / GLP services in the UK.
