The Wynnstay Group has extended its dairy team that covers the Midlands, Wales and Shropshire with the appointment of four new members. Will Astley, Stuart Miles, Mark Price and Thomas Stephenson will work to bring products and services to customers and share knowledge through newsletters, workshops and meetings with international specialists.
Mr Astley is a former Royal Association of British Dairy Farmer Student of the Year. He has a foundation degree in dairy herd management from Reaseheath College and, as well as working on his family farm in Wales, has worked as a reproductive management systems technician and has lectured at his former college. Mr Miles, from South Wales, is a former assistant herd manager. He has a foundation degree in agriculture from Harper Adams University. Mr Price, from Shrewsbury, has an agriculture degree from the University of Reading. His career has included working on his family farm, a 600-cow unit in Dorset, a 1,000-cow dairy unit in Scotland and the Harper Adams University dairy unit. Mr Stephenson, who is from Ulverston in Cumbria, is a former herdsman for a 260-strong pedigree Holstein herd.
Commenting on the new recruits, Huw McConochie, head of dairy technical services at Wynnstay, said: “We are delighted to welcome the four new members of our dairy team. Together they bring a fresh and enthusiastic approach to herd management that can only benefit our customers and allow Wynnstay to improve the level of support and advice to ensure we help farmers stay at the cutting edge of the agricultural industry.”
