Cargill has appointed Mary Thompson to lead its European poultry business, based at Hereford, England, from August 1st. She succeeds Pilar Cruz in the role, after his move to become corporate vice president in charge of Cargill’s strategy and business development team at its global headquarters in Minneapolis.
Ms Thompson has led Cargill Value Added Meats from Wichita in Kansas for the last three-and-a-half years. This included the successful integration of an acquired business which earned an award for high performance from the Cargill chairman. Before that, she was president of Cargill’s North American egg business Cargill Kitchen Solutions; vice president of the company’s corn milling business and led the company’s dry corn ingredients group. After joining Cargill in 1992, she held positions in the company’s oilseed, soy protein and strategy and business development groups. Prior to joining Cargill, she held a number of marketing and developmental roles with consulting firms and educational institutions.
