MVF gets behind pink bale wrap campaign

Mole Valley Farmers (MVF) used this month's LAMMA show in Peterborough to launch a new pink charity bale wrap. The pink bale wrap is an awareness-raising campaign for breast cancer.

The farmer-owned business and films manufacturer Silotite, a brand owned by Herefordshire-based Minster Films, are joining forces to produce a limited edition pink conventional Silotite bale wrap. £5 per roll sold will be donated to Cancer Research, with contributions from Silotite, Mole Valley and the purchaser. Farmers can add a roll of pink bale wrap to each pallet they buy through Mole Valley Farmers, and can also donate to the charity on the company’s stand at LAMMA and at other events in 2016. Silotite and Mole Valley hope to raise around £10,000 for the charity this year through the initiative.

Fund raising is a major part of the campaign, says John Ovenell of Mole Valley Farmers, but more important is raising national awareness of the disease. “Pink silage bales scattered across the British countryside will be a massive advertising campaign for Cancer Research UK,” he says. “It’s a great opportunity for MVF and farmers to do something to raise awareness of a significant illness that affects so many people.”
