Hutchinsons has made its second acquisition this month through the purchase of L W Vass (Agricultural) based at Maulden in Bedfordshire. No financial details have been released.
The family-owned L W Vass business was established over 50 years ago and trades across the Home Counties. It specialises in agronomic advice backed up by the sale and supply of agrochemicals to farmers and growers; plus soil sampling and tissue analysis services. The business also runs Vasgro Sprayers, a Hardi equipment dealership which supplies, maintains and services spraying machinery and incorporates a nationally registered sprayer testing workshop.
A more recent diversification is the saddlery, equine supplies and country store business Equisense, which opened in 2000 at the Maulden headquarters.
Hutchinsons says the Vass operation will dovetail extremely well with its established business in neighbouring areas. “This is a very positive and complementary development for our company, and fits really well with our technical expertise and product strengths,” states chairman David Hutchinson.
L W Vass directors James and Martin Hind add that the new partnership will benefits both customers and staff. “We are delighted that our two family businesses have joined and look forward to working together, bringing benefits to our farmer clients from our combined resources while continuing to deliver excellent customer service,” notes James Hind.
Earlier this month, Hutchinsons acquired Norman and Spicer Agriculture, which supplies agronomy advice and inputs alongside equestrian, livestock and companion animal requisites in a 30 mile radius of Daventry in Northamptonshire.
