Incoming Yara International president and chief executive Svein Tore Holsether has made a number of organisational and senior management changes, following a review of the business. The restructure is designed to improve its strategic focus and execution.
Mr Holsether took up his new role in September 2015 (ATN August 28th). “After spending recent months visiting numerous Yara sites, meeting employees and conducting business and organizational reviews, I have concluded on the key organizational changes needed to strengthen operational focus and improve alignment behind our strategic direction," he states.
The existing company segments are to be consolidated into three headings - Production, Supply Chain and Crop Nutrition. Production comprises the former Upstream segment with Yara's mining activities and will be headed by Petter Østbø, formerly head of Yara's Gas and Industrial Applications business.
The Supply Chain segment combines the former Supply & Trade segment with Yara's IT function, critical to its efficient logistics. It will be led by Tove Andersen, previously head of the Supply Chain Europe unit and a former head of Yara UK and Ireland for the five years up to July 2011.
The Downstream segment is re-named Crop Nutrition and continues under Terje Knutsen. Alvin Rosvoll, who was head of the old Supply & Trade segment, becomes senior vice president for Partner Operations, responsible for securing Yara's interests in its largest joint ventures.
“I am confident that the changes will strengthen Yara going forward, sharpen our strategic focus on profitable growth and reinforce our integrated business model," concludes Mr Holsether.
