Plant Impact opens US office

Plant Impact plc, the Rothamsted-based developer of crop enhancement products, has appointed a director to manage a new permanent office in the US.

It has recruited Mike Eade as commercial and marketing director to oversee its newly established North American business operations, Plant Impact Inc, from offices in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina.

Mr Eade has over 30 years’ sales and marketing experience in animal health, agrochemicals and crop insurance. He joins Plant Impact from DuPont’s Pioneer seed division, where he was commercial unit lead in sales and marketing for its Delta Commercial Unit covering soyabean, cotton and corn production. Previous employers include Merial, American Cyanamid and RCIS.

In his new role, Mr Eade will develop North American sales of Plant Impact’s specialty crops portfolio, including tree fruit, tree nuts and specialty turf products in the US, Canada and Mexico, and prepare for the launch of a range of soyabean and wheat products.

“Mike’s appointment and our establishment of a North American business reflects our confidence in the growth opportunities ahead for us in US broad acre crop markets following positive 2015 product trial results for our soy and wheat research programs,” notes Plant Impact chief executive John Brubaker.

“Our product range, pipeline and commercial expertise position us to bring new technologies to the American grower, and Mike brings with him a wealth of experience and industry relationships.  I have every confidence that under his leadership, North America will develop into a significant business for our Group.”
