Andritz to build new 2Sisters feed mill

Andritz Feed & Biofuel Technologies, a division of the Austrian multinational process engineer Group Andritz, has secured the contract to supply 2Agriculture’s new 300,000 tons-per-year poultry feed plant in Scotland.

Construction of the new facility, to replace the existing mill at Fairview adjacent to Edinburgh airport, is scheduled to begin in October this year, with the plant fully commissioned by January 2018. The Fairview site, originally a Grampian Country Food Group asset, will be redeveloped into office space, hotel and leisure facilities.

“Andritz will deliver a state-of-the-art mill with innovative technology and leading operational efficiencies,” says Paul Mullen, managing director of Andritz Feed & Biofuel with responsibility for the UK and Ireland markets. “We view this as a long-term relationship between our companies, and with our highly experienced UK service team and aftermarket products, we will provide support over the plant´s entire lifetime.

“This order once again confirms the company’s market leadership for feed solutions in the UK and Ireland.”

The 2Agriculture feed operation manufactures just under one million tons of poultry feed annually throughout the UK for the integrated 2Sisters poultry rearing and processing operation. “This development strengthens our support to a sustainable Scottish poultry industry,” says Gavin Berry, managing director of 2Agriculture.
