Fruit agronomist for Hutchinsons

Crop protection specialist Hutchinsons has appointed a new fruit agronomist, Andy Lloyd, to strengthen its West Midlands horticultural team. Mr Lloyd joins Hutchinsons as a new entrant agronomist and will be based at Ledbury.

Mr Lloyd’s career includes time working for a Herefordshire fruit contractor, concentrating mainly on cider fruit with a small proportion of juicing apples and some cherries. He provided harvesting and spraying services to local farmers, including harvesting 14,000 tonnes of fruit in 2015, and also undertook share farm agreements and orchard management. He has also worked in New Zealand and Australia.

Mike Hutchinson, director of horticulture at the company, says that Mr Lloyd’s background and apple cider specialisation will benefit Hutchinsons’ customers. He comments: “We have always been proud to offer excellent technical expertise, the latest technology and top-class advice to specialist fruit growers.”
