Australian and Spanish partnerships for Cogent

UK bovine genetics company Cogent Breeding, a Grosvenor Estates business, has announced a partnership with Universal Sires Australia, a specialist dairy genetics business. The two companies will work in Australia's bovine genetics, AI and herd improvement sectors under the name Cogent Australia.

Cogent says that the addition of Cogent Australia represents the latest stage of its international growth programme and underpins its ambition to become a world leader in the improvement of beef and dairy genetics. It points out that it continually innovates in its breeding programmes and works to bring about best practice through resource efficiency, science, and precision technologies.

Andy Smith, Cogent's international sales manager for Australia, says: "There are many synergies between the UK and Australian markets and we have long held similar views on the importance of genetic potential. This is a strong fit for both Cogent and Universal Sires and reinforces our strategic focus as a company. The formation of Cogent Australia opens an exciting period of opportunity and marketing initiatives for both businesses.

“Cogent Australia represents another step in Cogent’s goal to expand customer-focused services. Our combined expertise, resources and capabilities mean we’re in a strong position to enter an important, new market through the proven abilities of a great team."

•  Cogent has also agreed a new partnership with the Spanish livestock health and supplies business Inatega to distribute its beef and dairy products to farmers across Spain.

Inatega managing director Pablo Garcia says “We are always looking for ways to expand the services that we offer to our clients and this landmark partnership with Cogent will enable us to supply quality, global genetics to our customers.“

For Cogent, international sales manager for Spain Tom Peters adds: “Our new partnership with Inatega is an exciting development that will enable us meet the needs of the Spanish market by supplying premier beef and dairy genetics in a structured and efficient way.”
