Agricultural purchasing group Anglia Farmers (AF) has appointed Nigel Savory as chairman, with effect from March 31st. He takes over from interim chairman George Bell.
Mr Savory is a partner in his family farm near Fakenham in Norfolk, and is also a chartered accountant with many years experience in the agricultural industry. He has been a member of AF for over ten years. After being a partner at KPMG, Mr Savory became a partner in Grant Thornton in 2000. He was managing partner of Grant Thornton’s offices in East Anglia before his retirement in 2014, and still works part time for the company, managing the local agricultural team.
Commenting on his new role, Mr Savory says: “Expert knowledge has always been one of the fundamentals of what AF offers and that, along with providing a first class personal service, will always be at the heart of the organisation’s strategy. AF is already great so I’m looking forward to helping make it become even greater.
“This is a fantastic organisation. Since it formed from the merger of Loddon and Mid Norfolk Farmers it has grown and grown into the national business which it is today. The key element of AF’s success is its service to its members and my decades working in business services mean that I understand the need to provide the best possible customer care and support.”
He added: “I’ve experienced AF as a member and that’s why I’m so passionate about it. I believe that AF has so much to offer to members and one of its biggest challenges, and opportunities, is in making sure members are aware of the full range of product areas available to them.”
