Nidera, the Rotterdam based international grain shipping business that is a subsidiary of the Chinese COFCO Group, has a new chief executive from June 1st.
Dierk Overheu will assume the role, succeeding Ton van der Laan who is to retire from the business at the end of June.
Mr Overheu spent 40 years at Alfred C Toepfer, now known as ADM Germany, the Hamburg based grain and feed materials trader. His career saw him progress from the trading desk to become vice-chairman of the board and an executive member of many of its principal operating subsidiaries, including trading director of Feedstuffs. Mr Overheu is also managing director of Kincannon & Reed, the global executive recruitment business.
“Dierk brings extensive experience both in trading and management, and is very familiar with our business,” comments Nidera chairman Patrick Yu. “The supervisory board has appointed Dierk with a clear mandate to lead Nidera as a strong, focused and well-governed trading company and build on its many strengths to deliver sustained growth."
COFCO completed its purchase of the remaining equity in Noble Agri in March this year, and renamed the business COFCO Agri. This business is led by Matt Jensen, also a former ADM executive.
