ProCam UK acquires Field Options

National agronomy services business ProCam UK, based in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, has acquired forage crop specialist Field Options to extend its presence into mixed farming areas of the country and develop its seeds supply business.

Field Options was established in 2004 by Francis Dunne, a former Oliver Seeds, ICI Seeds and Sinclair McGill executive. With its HQ at Presteigne in the Welsh Marches, the company has developed a UK-wide business supplying forage crops and associated technical expertise. As well as providing grass and wholecrop mixtures, forage maize and beet and other forage crops, it supplies seeds for environmental schemes, green manuring, game cover and the amenity market, as well as soil analysis, plant nutrition services and Anaerobic Digestion support.

ProCam managing director John Bianchi says Field Options is now a trading division of ProCam UK, but will continue to trade under its own brand. Mr Dunne will become ProCam director of grass and forage seeds, with all other staff retained.  Existing agency and distributorships will also remain in place.

“Field Options, under the stewardship of its founder Francis Dunne, has built a formidable reputation for technical excellence in the forage crop sector, working one-to-one with its farmer customers to increase production efficiency,” notes Mr Bianchi. “This philosophy mirrors ProCam’s farmer-first approach to business, where the best knowledge, the most effective solutions and the right people combine to provide a service focused on optimising production.”

Mr Dunne adds: “This development gives us greater expertise in business management, more advanced logistics, and enhanced knowledge in crop production systems. Technical support to staff, agents and distributors should also benefit and there will be the potential to devote more resources to trials and product development.”
